Here are some fun facts you may not know about this wonderful day over the years:

  • Congress made Independence Day an official unpaid holiday for federal employees in 1870. In 1938, Congress changed Independence Day to a paid federal holiday.
  • In 1776, there were 2.5 million people living in the new nation. Today the population of the U.S.A. is over 331 million.
  • The liberty bell weighs 2080 pounds and its circumference is 12 feet.
  • The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson.
  • The White House held its first 4th July party in 1801.

Grand Sierra Resort

Great American Craft Fair + Parade

Location: McKinley Park

The Great American Craft Fair will include live music, food and classic American automobiles from the National Automobile Museum will also be on hand. Free and family-friendly events.  The parade will be at 5:30pm on July 4th, best viewing at McKinley park or along the river walk. This is a 4th of July in Reno event you don’t want to miss!

American Salute July 4th Celebration

Date: July 4
Location: Wingfield Park, Reno, NV.
Time: 7:30-10:00pm (doors open at 5:30pm)

In conjunction with Reno Artown, enjoy the 4th in downtown Reno at Wingfield Park. This is a free event. There will be music and the fireworks will be at dusk!

Damonte Ranch

Damonte Ranch 4th of July Fireworks

Date: July 4
Location: Wingfield Park, Reno, NV.
Time: 9:15pm

Enjoy the celebration this fourth of July with the Damonte Ranch fireworks. There will be no public access to the site and please follow the traffic restriction and lane closures in and around Damonte Ranch and the Downtown Damonte location. Damonte Ranch will not be hosting the Damonte Ranch 4th of July in the Park.

4th of July on the Lawn at LifeChurch

Life Church is hosting an amazing day of family fun on the 4th of July from 3pm – 10pm! They will have food, activities for kids, cornhole, inflatables, live music, and more!

Reno Aces

On the evening of Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 6:35 p.m., witness the thrilling match between the Aces and the Tacoma Rainiers in celebration of Independence Day. As a grand finale, a magnificent display of fireworks will light up the sky.

Additionally, there will be more exciting games against the Rainiers from July 5 to 9, with a splendid fireworks show following the game on July 7.

Star-Spangled Sparks

Cost: Free

Join the Nugget and downtown Sparks for a block party on Victorian Avenue.  Food trucks, vendors, arts and crafts and music! Fireworks will start at 9:30pm (weather permitting).

Limited parking.  Free park and ride shuttle.  The shuttle will pick up in two locations: The Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center Parking Lot at 1350 N. Wells Avenue in Reno and 510 Greenbrae Drive at the corner of Greenbrae Drive and 4th Street in Sparks.

Carson City

Celebrate the 4th of July in Virginia City! Fun for the entire family! The 4th of July Parade on the Comstock is about as patriotic as you can get. Virginia City’s 4th of July is pure Americana with a jovial atmosphere all day and night. The streets are decked in red, white and blue. The parade is full of candy-throwing, classic cars and car clubs, first responders, military, veteran organizations and more.

Fernley 4th of July

Location: Fernley, NV

The Fernley Masonic Lodge #34 will once again be putting on a fantastic breakfast starting at 7am, located at 40 East Street. The parade gets started at 10:00am down Main St. starting at the light at 95A and Main Street and ending at Lois Lane. Continue the fun with free kids games, a raffle, greased pig contest, music until midnight and of course, FIREWORKS!

Fallon

Tahoe City Drone Show

It’s a light show you won’t want to miss! Orchestrated to music, over 100 drones will take to the air directly over Lake Tahoe, brightening up the sky and delivering a new kind of wonder. The Tahoe City show will take place on July 4 over Commons Beach.

South Lake Tahoe Fireworks

Location: Stateline, Nevada

Tahoe South’s Lights on the Lake Fireworks will start at 9:45pm on July 4 and are visible from all over the South Shore. The 4th of July fireworks display in South Lake Tahoe is rated “one of the top 5 fireworks displays in the nation” by the American Pyrotechnics Association. Watch the display from Nevada Beach, Timber Cove Marina, or El Dorado Beach for some of the best views.
