Back to School Events and School Supplies in Las Vegas

Boulder City

Story Time on the Train

Date: Aug 20 at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm

Location: Nevada Southern Railway Museum, 601 Yucca St Boulder City, NV 89005

Story Time on the train on the Nevada Southern Railway. The kids enjoy a coloring page, craft and an age-appropriate story read by one of our docents.

Everyone rides the train from the depot to Railroad Pass and returns while enjoying the activities along with their parents and family. StoryTime is on each of the regular departures for the day.

City of Henderson Splash Pads Now Open for the Season

Date: Season is April 1 – October 31

Location: various locations throughout the City of Henderson

Date: Every Monday and Wednesday from 3-5pm (Aug 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31)

Location: Water Street Plaza, 240 S. Water St.

A variety of sports activities and games will be set up each day for your enjoyment. From kickball to tag, each day will be a new activity. Ages 5-18.

FIT4MOMS Stroller Strides Classes

Date: Every Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday at 9am, Thursdays at 7:30pm

Location: The Green Behind Whole Foods

Join FIT4MOM for Stroller Strides every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 9 a.m. and for Body Boost on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

Your first workout is complimentary! Classes meet at The Green behind Whole Foods.

Music in the Courtyard

Date: Every Friday & Saturday from 7-9pm

Location: The Courtyard at The District at GVR

Enjoy music from some of the best local artists in town every. Music in The Courtyard will be held from June through August, on Friday and Saturday nights from 7pm to 9pm.

Archery Open Range

Date: Every Saturday (Aug 6, 13, 20, 27) from 8am – 1pm

Location: Whitney Ranch Recreation Center; 1575 Galleria Dr. Henderson, NV 89014

Ages 5-17; $4/day
Ages 18+; $7/day

The range master facilitates safe archery target shooting through coordinated directions to groups wishing to practice their skills. Bring your own equipment (no broad tip arrows allowed) or rent it from us for $10 per hour or $20 per day. Ages 5-18.

Free Public Skate @ Lifeguard Arena

Date: Aug 1 from 12 (noon) – 2pm

Location: Lifeguard Arena; 222 S Water St Henderson, NV 89015

Beat the heat, and get on the ice! The City of Henderson and Lifeguard Arena are teaming up to offer free public skate to our community on select dates this summer. Skaters of all ages and experience levels are welcome!

Registration is required in order to participate. Skate rentals are $3 and available for purchase after you check in. Please visit lifeguardarena.com/open-skate for facility rules and regulations.

Cosmic Swim

Bring your towel and come enjoy various board games and lawn games such as Jenga and cornhole in the

Vintage Market & Craft Sale

Date: Aug 20 from 7am-1pm

Location: Silver Springs Recreation Center; 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy. Henderson, Nevada 89074

Whether you craft, upcycle or repurpose, this is the show for you! During the summer we will bring our popular show indoors. As a vendor, this is a great opportunity to display your treasures and talents. You can purchase a booth space that includes two six-foot tables.. Vendors, please arrive by 6am to set up. All ages are welcome to shop. Admission is free.

Mighty Medley Obstacle Course

Date: Aug 20 from 12:30-2:30pm

Location: Heritage Park Aquatic Complex; 310 S. Racetrack Rd. Henderson, Nevada 89015

Barrel through obstacles, balance your way over a narrow bridge, and finish with a splash on our floating obstacle course that’s sure to be a blast for anyone who loves to get wet. A swim test is required before participants can use the obstacle course. Open swim areas will also be available. Ages 8-14

Toddler Time

Date: Every Monday and Friday from 11am-12pm

Location: Springs Preserve @ The Garden Center

Toddler Time has returned to the Springs Preserve! Bring your little ones to the Garden Classroom every Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for kid-friendly activities and stories, with new themes weekly. FREE for members or with paid general admission.

Starting September 1 Toddler Times will be Thursdays, Fridays, and Mondays in the Bearpoppy Room.

Popup Parks & Recreation

Date: Jun 14 – Aug 6, Tuesday – Saturday

Mark your calendar now to bring your family to a city of Las Vegas park near you for free pop-up fun. There will be sports, field day games, crafts and other fun activities led by Parks and Recreation staff and community partners. Look for the mobile city of Las Vegas Recreation Van and registration table at the days and times listed below.
