Are You A Mom?

I am a mom to one vivacious, smart, kind, two-year-old little girl.

WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE TO A NEW PARENT?

The best advice I can give to a new parent is to listen to yourself and trust your instinct. Everyone has something to say, or some advice to give. Some will be helpful, a lot will be overwhelming. You know what is best for your baby, your family, and yourself. Trust that maternal instinct in inner voice!

SHARE ONE OF YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING MOM MOMENTS?

(Let me preface my embarrassing mom moment by saying: I am currently working from home and we are in the midst of potty-training).  I was recently on a Zoom meeting where I was both training a new team member, as well as taking client calls.

My daughter happened to be home that day with my husband, but he had to briefly pop out to run an errand. She was set up with a movie in another room, so I continued with my work/training.

Not long after my husband left, my daughter wandered into my office holding up her finger, calling for me. I looked at her finger and my first thought was “Hmmmmm….I don’t remember her being given any chocolate?” I quickly realized my error. It was not chocolate….it was a diaper surprise.

I panicked! I tried not to laugh. I tried not to lose my composure. I had nothing to wipe my daughter’s hand with, and I was in the middle of both a call as well as training. I gracefully ended my call, told my coworker I would call her back, and handled that crap.  😉

WHAT DOES THE PERFECT “ME DAY” LOOK LIKE?

A perfect “me day” would include a quiet morning where I could do some self-care with face masks from Prude and Boujee, an iced tea from Too Soul Tea, and some goodies from Perenn Bakery while scrolling my social media (and getting some writing done) uninterrupted.

The afternoon would involve plant and thrift/vintage shopping at local boutiques (Reno Roots Nursery, Sierra Water, The Nest) and maybe some crafting or a pedicure.

The evening would include time with My Tribe, a small group of friends, where we would enjoy margs, chips & salsa, plates of delicious Mexican food, hard seltzers and gossip.

My loving husband would meet up with me after where we would go to one of those “new bars in MidTown” and take advantage of a rare night out. The day would end with a LYFT ride home and a sleeping baby.

WHY DO YOU ENJOY WRITING FOR NEVADA MOMS AND WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE POST YOU’VE WRITTEN?

I enjoy writing for Nevada Moms because it has introduced me to such a strong and unique group of women. I began writing for Nevada Moms as a brand-new mom, and having the support, guidance, and friendship of my co-writers has been inspiring.

I also appreciate that I am able to provide a diverse voice that others can relate to, in this ever-growing, always-changing state of Nevada.

I am proud of all that I have had to opportunity to write and contribute to Nevada Moms, but here are a few I’m especially fond of:

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CONTRIBUTOR?

We are always looking for awesome new contributors to add to our team! After all, we couldn’t do this without amazing mamas, like Shannon Bonetti, who share their voices with our community.

We like articles that introduce new ideas and advance conversations around topics and trends that engage our readers–think op-ed rather than content marketing.

We appreciate articles that are centered around family life, being a parent, or starting a family.

While we do not add contributors all the time, if a spot opens out and we think you’ll be a good fit for us, we will reach out.

Our contributors commit to volunteering their time to write 1 article/month for 12 months. You can learn more and apply here.
