8 DIY Cleaning Recipes

All-purpose cleaner

Combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of white vinegar, and 20 drops of essential oil (such as lavender or lemon) in a spray bottle. This mixture can be used to clean countertops, sinks, and other surfaces.

Glass cleaner

Mix 2 cups of water, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, and 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. This solution is perfect for cleaning windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.

 

Carpet cleaner

Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with 10 drops of essential oil (such as tea tree or peppermint) in a jar. Sprinkle this mixture on carpets, let it sit for 15 minutes, then vacuum it up!

Laundry Detergent

Just toss 1 cup of baking soda into the washing machine instead of store-bought detergent and wash as usual.

Stovetop Cleaner

Oven Cleaner

Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda and enough water to make a paste. Apply the paste to the inside of your oven, let it sit for 15 minutes, then scrub it with a sponge and rinse it off.

Drain Cleaner

Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Pour this mixture down your drain, let it sit for 10 minutes, then flush it with hot water.
