Sweet: A Tasty Journey

Date: January 15 – May 15, 2022

Location: 1595 N. Sierra Street, Reno, NV. (Inside Rancho San Rafael Regional Park)

Sweet will take you on a journey through the history and manufacturing of candy, chocolate, and other treats. Learn about candies of the past, meet real-life Willy Wonkas, and explore cultures around the world through their candy.

Play a life-size candyland game, take a tour of Candy Mountain, see candy art, test your taste buds, photo ops, and more! Cost: $10 adults / $9 children & seniors

CABIN FEVER

Date: February 3 & 17, 202110am-11am

The Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden is excited to announce Cabin Fever!

January 6th & 20th, and February 3rd & 17th from 10am-11am in the Ranch House for a variety of winter themed programs for kids ages 4-10. Donation of $3 per session or $15 for the whole series, paid by cash or check on the day of the program. Come to the garden and learn about how winter affects the world around them. BLAST OFF ON SCIENCE 

Date: February 12, Second Saturday of Every Month. 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Location: The National Automobile Museum

With exclusive activities from the Nevada Space Center, home of the Challenger Learning Center of Northern Nevada.

Simulated journeys throughout the solar system, Full-dome planetarium programs, Hands-on workshops, Live presentations, Virtual reality headsets, iPad interactive stations. $12 per person for Children and Adults. Also includes admission to the Automobile Museum. Designed for participants aged 8 to 12.

HANDS ON! SECOND SATURDAY

Date: February 12 (Second Saturday of each month), 10am – 4pm

Location: Nevada Museum of Art, 160 West Liberty, Reno, Nevada 89501

DISNEY PRINCESS: THE CONCERT

Location: Grand Sierra Resort

Enjoy your favorite princess songs! Show starts 7:00pm and Doors open 6:00pm

TODDLER TIME AT GALENA CREEK

Date: February 17th, 12pm

Location: Galena Creek Visitor Center, 18250 Mount Rose Highway, Reno, NV

Every third Thursday of the month, join us at 12:00pm for knee-high nature education that includes stories, activities, crafts, and outdoor exploration. $5 Suggested Donation. Please call ahead to confirm!

HOME SCHOOL FIELD STUDY

Date: February 18th, 10am

Location: Galena Creek Visitor Center, 18250 Mount Rose Highway, Reno, NV

Every third Friday of the month from September-May at 10am, Nevada homeschool students are invited to join us for a two-hour outdoor discovery-based STEM education field study. Email at visitorcenter@thegreatbasininstitute.org to confirm and for more information.

SPARKS

3RD THURSDAYS

Date: February 17th from 4-9pm (third Thursday of every month)

Location: Victorian Square

This includes good food, cold drinks, live entertainment, crafts, chef demos, movies on the big screen and all the art you can handle! Downtown Sparks is the place to be this and every 3rd Thursday of the month, all year round!

SATURDAY NIGHT STAR PARTIES

Date: February 12 & 26

Location: Jack C Davis Observatory

2022 GUIDED SNOWSHOEING TRIPS

Date: February 3, 16, 19 (times vary)

Location: Locations vary

Snowshoes are available and included in registration. Registration is $30 per date. Transportation is included. All trips will meet at the Carson City MAC (1860 Russell Way). You can choose to drive yourself if preferred. Register at http://carson.org/ccpr.

SNOOPY AND THE RED BARON EXHIBITION

Date: February 19 – May 15, 2022

Location: Brewery Arts Center, 449 W King Street Carson City, NV 89703

Snoopy and the Red Baron, a traveling exhibition on view at the Brewery Arts Center, from February 19-May 15, 2022, celebrates one of Snoopy’s most recognized personas. Learn about this favorite storyline in Peanuts through high-quality reproductions of original comic strips and discover the rich World War I history Schulz used in nearly every strip.

Tuesday through Sunday from 12pm to 4pm,

Thursdays from 12pm to 7pm and for special events.

Entry will be for a suggested donation of $10 per adult and $5 for students and seniors.

Kacey received her bachelor's in Psychology while cheering for the University of Oregon. They moved to Reno in 2014 and have loved it ever since. She is a dedicated homeschooling mother to her three children.

She serves on the hospital board for Northern Nevada Health Systems and is passionate about her community.

Kacey loves exploring with her family and finding family-friendly events and activities! A few of her favorite things include family adventures, traveling, working out, coffee, and dessert!
