Free Kids Workshops & Crafts To Register For

Home Depot Kids Workshops

When: First Saturday of the Month

Recommended Ages: Ages 5-12

Registration: Required (slots fill up quickly and are available one month in advance)

All materials and tools are provided for free, and kids get to take their creations home! It’s a fantastic way to introduce them to basic building skills, boost their confidence, and spend quality time together.

I personally do not recommend Home Depot Workshops for younger children as they are more intricate and can involve painting and more mess.

Lowe’s DIY Kids’ Workshops

When: Second Saturday of the Month

Recommended Ages: Ages 5-12 (although my son loves these at age 2.5!)

Registration: Required (slots fill up quickly and are available one month in advance)

Kids get to build fun projects like wooden cars, planters, and seasonal decorations, all while learning basic DIY skills – it is mostly hammering and stickers. They also receive a free apron, safety glasses, and a completion pin or badge!

JCPenney Kids Zone

When: Second Saturday of the Month

Recommended Ages: All

Registration: None, FCFS while supplies last

JCPenney often hosts free in-store kids’ crafts and activities through their “Kids Zone” events. While the projects may vary, they often include fun, themed crafts that kids can complete and take home. These events are a great way to break up a shopping trip and let your little ones get creative.

You will also receive a 10% off coupon to use same day as well as craft, id, badge, lanyard, and collectors pin each month.

LEGO Store Make & Take Events

When: Typically once a month

Recommended Ages: Ages 6+

Registration: None, FCFS while supplies last

LEGO fans, rejoice! LEGO Stores occasionally host free “Make & Take” events where kids can build a small LEGO model in-store and then take their creation home for free! These events are incredibly popular and offer a fun, hands-on LEGO building experience.

The LEGO model to build changes with each event and is usually themed around current LEGO releases or holidays. These events are typically geared towards specific age ranges.
