Gift Guide: For Kids

The holidays are quickly approaching and it seems as though I should have started shopping a couple months ago – yet here we are. Holiday shopping is one of my favorite things to do. There is something about gifting that makes the world go round – that ounce of happiness, the smile you see on someone’s face, the light in your children’s eyes. It is always worth it.

This year, Northern Nevada Moms is here to help! Our gift guide for kids is the perfect way to check off some names on your shopping list from the comfort of your home. Can I get an AMEN for online shopping?!

Stocking Stuffers For Kids

The dreaded stocking stuffer. Gone are the days of filling them with toothbrushes and toothpaste (wait, am I the only one that got those?) – stocking stuffer ideas have transformed over the years, but we are sharing some of our favorite gift ideas that won’t break the bank and will also be worthwhile versus just have fillers!

  1. Zollipops: The Clean Teeth Pops are the perfect stocking stuffer treat that will not only satisfy that sweet tooth craving, but they are great for anti-cavity protection. Kid created, mom approved. If you like their pops, you’ll love their Zaffi Taffy.
  2. Slime is the perfect addition to your kids stocking and I love how it can keep them entertained for hours. Add to the excitement and let them make the slime themselves with this deluxe slime starter kit.
  3. Tis the season for beanies and we love these knit beanie hats. Plenty of colors to choose from. The poms are also removable making cleaning the beanie that much easier!
  4. These velvet hair scrunchies are the perfect addition to any girls stocking. Less than $1.10/piece is the sweet price to add a few of these to every girls and women’s stocking.

Gift Ideas

  1. One of our all-time favorite kids’ gifts is Magna-Tiles 100-Piece Clear Colors Set. This gift is an investment as it grows with your child. The magnetic building tiles are STEM approved and are amazing quality. One of our kiddos has had them for a few years now and they have held up very well. I’ve seen these ONCE at Home Goods two years ago and regretted not buying them every day since as it was such a good deal.
  2. If you’ve got a little one learning their letters and spelling, this Melissa & Doug See & Spell Wooden toy set is for you. I am obsessed with Melissa & Doug Toys because of the quality, educational aspects, and style.
  3. Another favorite Melissa & Doug item are these puzzle sets.  These are perfect for toddler who is learning shapes, animal sounds, colors and more Animals Wooden Peg Puzzles Set – Farm, Pets, and Ocean and Shapes – wooden chunky puzzle
  4. If your kid is obsessed with science and experimenting then this is the perfect gift. The Scientific Explorer My First Mind Blowing Science Kit is ideal for preschool and elementary school kids!
  5. Local momma Bre shared Mouse Trap Game on her Instagram the other day which she gifted to her 5-year-old. We forgot how much we loved this game too when we were little – so we are bringing it back!
  6. Kinetic Sand is fun for kids to play with indoors!  Place inside a large bin with some “sand toys” and they will be busy for at least an hour or more.  Bonus is that is that it is easy to clean!

Subscription & Membership Based Gifts

Aside from physical gifts, we recently came across the idea of gifting a membership/activity along with a small gift that correlates to the membership. These are gifts that could last all year plus get us out of the house so we can explore! Creating memories are so important to us and this is a great option for families of all sizes.

  1. Membership at Terry Lee Wells Discovery Museum or Children’s Museum & this STEM Learning activity set to go along with it.
  2. Tickets for Roller Kingdom (they have a family night!) with a sweet pair of roller skates or roller blades.
  3. Season Pass to Wild Island for Indoors goes perfectly with this indoor mini bowling set.
  4. Trampoline Park Passes for Fly High, EZ Air, or Urban Air are great to gift with some non-slip gripping socks. Non-Slip for toddlers and school-aged children.
  5. 10-day punch pass or Membership to Run Rattle Roll because every child will love this Little Tikes car to go with it!
  6. If your kiddo is a book lover, Literati is definitely for you! Several subscription options to choose from based on age for less than $10/month and you get to choose what books you want to keep! Pair this subscription with cute bookmarks or even a personalized book.

There you have it! Holiday shopping is officially here, so make shopping painless with some of our favorite items listed above. Are there any special items you are gifting this year that you think we should include?
