Hauntober

To say everything is haunted in this old mining town is not too far from the truth. Virginia City, Nevada, noted as one of America’s most haunted towns, takes it one step further by officially dubbing October as “Hauntober” and offers up numerous ways for visitors to get their spook on. Haunted places to stay, saloons to have a cold one, creepy tours and even lighted evening trains, the town becomes an epicenter of the supernatural.

Junkees Dark Corner Haunted House

Date: Sept. 27 – Oct. 31, Every Friday and Saturdays (select Thursdays)

JUNKEE’S Dark Corner Haunted House is an immersive experience filled with terrifying live actors, jaw dropping special effects, and menacing monsters.

The Ambush Haunted House – Details to Come!

Zombie Paintball

Date: Sept 27 -Nov1 on Thursdays– Saturdays, 7 – 10pm. See the ticketing site for detailed available times.

Cost: $25 online / $28 if purchased at the farm

We need your help fighting the zombies. After a safety briefing and mission instructions, zombie fighters will board one of our 4 zombie battle buses and head to the back 40 where the zombies have been seen. With your help we can defend our city from the invasion. Ages 4 to 10 years can ride when accompanied by an adult. All riders must purchase a ticket. No ride-alongs are allowed. For safety, no infants or non-participating children and adults are allowed. No pets allowed at the farm. We have 2 buses that are wheelchair accessible. Tickets sell out often, so buy your tickets early.

Corn Creepers Haunted Attraction

Date: Oct 3-Nov 1 on Thursdays – Saturdays, 7 – 10pm

Location: Andelin Family Farm, 8100 Pyramid Way, Sparks, NV 89436

Cost: $25 online / $28 if purchased at the farm

Corn Creepers Haunted attraction is an outdoor haunt through a corn field. It’s approximately 1/2 mile and takes around 20-25 minutes to get through. NOTE: The Corn Creepers Haunt is completely separate from the Big 5 acre Corn Maze. For those that may be a little timid we offer an option where guests can purchase ($1) and wear a glow necklace and our actors will tone down the scary to beginner level. This is a nice option for younger visitors, or anyone that might not be sure about going thru at full scare level.

Halloween Graveyard Train

Date: October 31 and November 1 at 5:30pm, 6:45pm, 8pm & 9pm

Location: Virginia Truckee Railroad

Cost: $26/adult, $19/child

Join us in Virginia City for a chilling ride through the haunted Comstock Lode! This Halloween, if you dare, we’ll venture to the Gold Hill Graveyard to meet the Executioner.

The 4-mile, 40-minute journey between Virginia City and Gold Hill transforms into a spine-tingling adventure on October 31 and November 1, as haunted and trapped souls emerge under the cover of night. You’ll travel safely in open-air cars beneath the eerie glow of a crescent moon, where the wild west meets a spooky, Disney-like atmosphere. This is an evening you won’t want to miss—filled with fright and a touch of magic.

Dress warmly for the chilly, high-desert air, and make sure to reserve your spot early as space is limited. Don’t miss the V & T’s Haunted Halloween Graveyard Train!

The Great Pumpkin Festival

This fall, Sand Harbor State Park transforms into Spooky Harbor, a lakeside celebration of Halloween with movies under the stars and festive fun for all ages! Join us at the Sand Harbor Stage 30 minutes after sunset, for a lineup of spooky favorites, from family-friendly classics to chilling late-night thrills.

The event is free (standard park entry fees apply). Bring your blankets, low-back chairs, flashlights, and warm clothes. There will be no concessions and lighting is limited after dark, so come prepared for a true autumn night by the lake. Viewer discretion is advised; film ratings range from PG to R and are the responsibility of each party/parent.

Ward 4 Fall Festival

The City of Reno invites the community to celebrate the season at the Ward 4 Fall Festival, hosted by Ward 4 Reno City Councilmember Meghan Ebert. The free, family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dorothy McAlinden Park, located at 14000 Stead Blvd. in Reno.

14th Annual Fall Festival

Now in its 14th year, Fall Festival is Truckee’s premier family-friendly autumn celebration and one of Tahoe Donner’s largest community events! Fall Festival is a favorite for all ages, featuring a full day of harvest-themed events and activities.

This year’s event is brimming with all the fall feels! Soak in the magic of autumn in the Sierras while you immerse yourself in the nostalgia of this classic festival, featuring old favorites like the pumpkin patch, pony rides, doggie dip, spooky maze, and new ones like axe throwing (ages 16+; closed-toe shoes required).

The pumpkin patch is fall’s ultimate playground, so it’s the perfect time to catch a train to the Gold Hill pumpkin patch and pick your special pumpkin to carve or cook in the fall sunshine. These trains are a delightful tradition for kids of all ages and a good value too. Toddlers age 4 and under ride for free and for a small fee they can pick their own pumpkin. Children 5-12 also get a special rate. Adults can choose from pumpkin or no pumpkin tickets.

Haunted Hoops

There will also be food trucks on site, a Spooky Critters Curator’s Corner in the Dema Guinn Concourse, as well as free admission to our family-friendly “haunted” Ghost Town and Mine exhibits inside the Museum!

To maximize the frights and sights this year, there will be NO RSVP REQUIRED FOR ENTRY. This event will be open to the public and is a family friendly festival filled with sweet treats, trick or treating for kids, animal antics and more!

All our animal residents will get a pumpkin filled with food; however, some will be given their pumpkin on a schedule and others will have theirs to enjoy all day, with animals out on exhibit with their treat.

This will allow you to set your own spooky adventure!

14th Halloween Trick or Treat at the Discovery

Get ready for a hauntingly good time at The Discovery’s 13th annual Halloween Trick or Treat. Visit the museum in costume and trick-or-treat from gallery to gallery. There’ll be spooky decorations and delicious treats for all the friendly or scary ghosts, ghouls and goblins who dare to attend. Advance tickets are suggested, but not required.

A note about costumes: For the safety of all visitors, costumes with weapons of any kind are not allowed.

Walk for Williams
