Haunted Houses and Activities
Hauntober
Date: Oct. 1 -31, all month long!
Location: Virginia City, Nevada
Cost: Varies by attraction
To say everything is haunted in this old mining town is not too far from the truth. Virginia City, Nevada, noted as one of America’s most haunted towns, takes it one step further by officially dubbing October as “Hauntober” and offers up numerous ways for visitors to get their spook on. Haunted places to stay, saloons to have a cold one, creepy tours and even lighted evening trains, the town becomes an epicenter of the supernatural.

6th Annual Fright at the Fairgrounds
Date: Sept. 20 – Oct. 31, Fridays and Saturdays
Location: Douglas County Fairgrounds, Gardnerville
Cost: $10/adult, $5/child from 3pm-5:30pm; $20/person from 6-9pm
The all-new maze features the “Dark Ride” taking visitors on a frightful dune buggy ride through the warehouse. When the buggy stops, the passengers begin the walk through where Creatures of the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein’s monster, Jack the Ripper and vampires lurk.
All props are built and set up by deputies and the Search and Rescue teams, Citizen’s Patrol and Douglas High School leadership students.
Kids 12 and younger can experience the maze in the “not so scary” version with lights on and no “pop out” actors. The “full scare” experience is for visitors 12 and older or at the discretion of parents or accompanying adults.
Junkees Dark Corner Haunted House
Date: Sept. 30 – Oct. 31, Every Friday and Saturdays and the 30th & 31st.

JUNKEE’S Dark Corner Haunted House is an immersive experience filled with terrifying live actors, jaw dropping special effects, and menacing monsters.

Haunted Maze

The Ambush Haunted House

Zombie Paintball
Date: Thursday – Saturday, 7 – 10. See the ticketing site for detailed available times.
Location: Andelin Family Farm, 8100 Pyramid Way, Sparks, NV 89436
Cost: $25 online / $28 if purchased at the farm
We need your help fighting the zombies. After a safety briefing and mission instructions, zombie fighters will board one of our 4 zombie battle buses and head to the back 40 where the zombies have been seen. With your help we can defend our city from the invasion. Ages 4 to 10 years can ride when accompanied by an adult. All riders must purchase a ticket. No ride-alongs are allowed. For safety, no infants or non-participating children and adults are allowed. No pets allowed at the farm. We have 2 buses that are wheelchair accessible. Tickets sell out often, so buy your tickets early.
Corn Creepers Haunted Attraction
Date: Thursday – Saturday, 7 – 10pm
Location: Andelin Family Farm, 8100 Pyramid Way, Sparks, NV 89436
Cost: $25 online / $28 if purchased at the farm
Corn Creepers Haunted attraction is an outdoor haunt through a corn field. It’s approximately 1/2 mile and takes around 20-25 minutes to get through. NOTE: The Corn Creepers Haunt is completely separate from the Big 5 acre Corn Maze. For those that may be a little timid we offer an option where guests can purchase ($1) and wear a glow necklace and our actors will tone down the scary to beginner level. This is a nice option for younger visitors, or anyone that might not be sure about going thru at full scare level.

Halloween Trick or Treat at the Discovery

Head to The Discovery for a hauntingly good time at the 11th annual Halloween Trick or Treat. Visit the museum in costume and trick-or-treat from gallery to gallery. There’ll be spooky decorations and delicious treats for all of the friendly or scary ghosts, ghouls and goblins who dare to attend. Advance tickets are encouraged but not required.
