10 Halloween Traditions
We love sharing ways for families to spend time together and make memories. We hope you love these Halloween traditions as much as we do.
Boo Basket
Boo baskets are a fun way to kick off the month of October. These are simple baskets for your kids. Include a few fun goodies in their baskets like bubbles or stickers, you can even include a Halloween book to read together.
Host a Party
Host a Pre-Trick or Treat Party! Listen to kid-friendly Halloween music, do a Halloween craft or Halloween-themed game, and eat a pumpkin-shaped pizza!
Make Halloween Food
There are so many ways to create Halloween food! Our favorites include making a homemade pumpkin-shaped pizza, baking and decorating Halloween cookies, making ghost cinnamon rolls, or something as simple as making a banana into a ghost! The bonus, you get to eat them!
Decorate
My kids love decorating for every season. This doesn’t have to be super extravagant. My kids love spiderwebs and tiny spiders. Another idea is going to the dollar spot or the dollar store and getting a few simple items.
Halloween Pj’s
New pajamas as the weather cool down are a must! Plus, who says you can only wear them during the Halloween season?
Halloween House
Make a Halloween graham cracker house. You can also buy a kit but I find a budget-friendly way to use graham crackers and hot glue to make a mini house!
Pumpkin Fun
Have a Pumpkin decorating contest. If your kids are young you can paint the pumpkin instead. Once your kids are older a pumpkin carving contest is so much fun for everyone.
BOO Your Neighbor
Starting the BOO your neighbor tradition is a great way to get your neighbors in the holiday spirit! Check out our free printable HERE.
Halloween Movie
Watching a different Halloween movie each week. This can be indoors or if your weather is still decent our kids love setting up the projector and watching it outside all cozied up! Some of our favorite Halloween movies are below!
- Room on the Broom
- Goosebumps (they have more then 1)
- Caroline
- Hotel Transylvania
- Adams Family
- The Little Vampire
- Casper
- SCOOB
- Halloweentown
- Hocus Pocus
- Hocus Pocus 2
Attend a Local Trunk or Treat
So many communities are hosting local trunk or treats! These are usually free for the community and volunteers decorate their trunks and hand out candy. These are great fun, safe, and we love seeing the decorated trunks!
