Tired of the same old sugary snacks? Let’s switch things up with some protein-packed options that the whole family will love! We are huge advocates for clean, healthy high-protein snacks and food ideas around here and these snacks are not only delicious but also provide the energy and nourishment your bodies crave.
We understand that many families are looking for clean, wholesome snacks without artificial additives.
That’s why we’ve focused on options that are free from artificial dyes, added sugars, and harmful seed oils. If you are not familiar with seed oils, these are some of the seed oils to stay clear of:
- Canola oil (aka rapeseed oil).
- Corn oil
- Cottonseed
- Grapeseed oil
- Soybean oil
- Sunflower oil
- Safflower oil
- Rice bran oil
- Peanut oil
Be sure to check labels for ingredients you recognize and avoid those with unfamiliar names or excessive additives.

Quick & Easy Protein Powerhouses

- Chomp Sticks: Ditch the chips and grab some crunchy veggies like carrots, celery, or cucumber. Pair them with hummus for a protein-packed dip. Need a homemade hummus recipe? We’ve got you covered!
- Fruit-Filled Goodness: That’s It Fruit Bars and Solely Fruit Strips are great options for a sweet treat without the guilt. They’re packed with fruit and protein to keep you energized. And they are JUST FRUIT. Nothing else added – no sugar, no natural flavors, no concentrate.
- Edamame Your Way: Dry roasted edamame is a protein-packed snack that’s perfect for on-the-go. Experiment with different flavors to keep things interesting! You can try dry roasted or frozen, just make sure if you grab dry roasted that it doesn’t have added soybean oil or maltodextrin (if you get flavored!).
- Rice Cake Reinvention: Elevate your rice cakes with a spread of creamy almond butter and sweet banana slices. Drizzle with honey for an extra touch. We like the thin salted ones or cinnamon!
Homemade Protein-Packed Delights

- Protein Shakes: Blend your favorite fruits, yogurt, and protein powder for a refreshing and nutritious snack.
- Easy Smoothie Recipe: 1 Scoop Vanilla Protein (this is our favorite!), Frozen Berries and Bananas (or whatever fruit and veggies you like), Almond Milk (make sure it’s just almonds and water). Optional: Chia Seeds, Flax Seeds, or Hemp Seeds
- Blueberry Muffins with a Boost: Add collagen powder to your homemade blueberry muffins for an extra protein punch. This is our go-to recipe, just add a scoop of collagen protein and sub the sugar for maple syrup.
- Sourdough Waffles: Make your waffles extra special by incorporating protein powder into the batter – I add a scoop of our favorite protein powder and sub the sugar for maple syrup. Top with fresh fruit and a drizzle of maple syrup.
- Cheese Roll-Ups: Combine protein and flavor with cheese roll-ups. Wrap string cheese in turkey or ham and enjoy with your favorite dip.
- Popcorn Perfection: Elevate your popcorn game by adding a sprinkle of chocolate gems, nutritional yeast, or Just Ingredients popcorn toppings. We prefer the Lesser Evil brand of popcorn.

- Egg Bites: DYK? A pregnant woman can get almost half the minimum daily dose of Choline she needs from two eggs. Choline is so good for you! I try to make these weekly because they are so easy, great for on the go, and you get some protein in! I switch up the mix-ins depending on what’s in my fridge!
1 dozen eggs
2 cooked slices of Turkey bacon or sausage links or meat of choice
Veggies (tomato, sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms, spinach)
Cheese of choice
Garlic, Salt, Pepper (seasonings of choice)
- Scrambled up your eggs in a bowl. Add seasonings of choice.
- Portion into sprayed muffin tin (so they don’t stick – I use Avocado spray or muffin liners).
- Add in whatever mix-ins of your choosing. If I do onions, mushrooms, or spinach, I sauté first and cut up before adding in. Add in cheese.
- Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.
- Let cool. Store in airtight container for 4-6 days. This makes me a dozen egg bites. I try to do one egg per bite.
Avocado and Egg-cellent Options

- Avocado Magic: Enjoy avocado with your favorite seasonings for a creamy and satisfying snack.
- Avocado Toast: Create a delicious and nutritious meal by topping your toast with avocado, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, and a poached egg.
- Egg-cellent Choice: Hard-boiled eggs are a classic protein-packed snack. Enjoy them on their own or with a side of whole-grain toast.
Creamy and Satisfying

- Greek Yogurt Goodness: Combine Greek yogurt with fresh fruit, granola, and a drizzle of maple syrup for a balanced and delicious snack. Make sure you pick a WHOLE fat greek yogurt. We like the Stonyfield 100% Grassfed Greek Yogurt or the A2 Whole Greek Yogurt you can find at Costco sometimes.
- Carrot Fries with Homemade Ranch: Satisfy your cravings with homemade carrot fries and a creamy homemade ranch dressing. You can eat your carrots raw or cut them up and season them to your liking, toss in the air fryer and enjoy!

- Cottage Cheese Bowls: Cottage cheese can be used like ricotta or mozzarella. These bowls are some of my favorite things to eat lately and toppings are endless.
- Toppings: Cottage cheese, soft-boiled eggs, cherry tomatoes, salt, pepper, chili flakes, avocado, and hot honey.
Remember: Always check labels for added sugars and unhealthy ingredients. By incorporating these high-protein snacks into your daily routine, you’ll be fueling your body with the nutrients it needs to thrive.
