Each year there are a bunch of holiday craft fairs that occur throughout Northern Nevada. Here are some that you can check out this year:

Carson City

The Polar Express™ Train Ride

Date: Nov. 14 – Dec. 23, 2025

Location: V&T Railway Eastgate Depot, 4650 Eastgate Siding Road, Carson City

Cost: Starting at $60 for 2 Seats (minimum)

Hop aboard the Polar Express and enjoy the train ride.  This is an interactive event the entire family is sure to love. Purchase tickets EARLY as this sells out quickly.

Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum

Date: Dec. 6 – 7, 13 – 14, 20 – 21, 2025 from 10am – 3pm, Train runs every 30 minutes

Location: Nevada State Railroad Museum; 2180 South Carson Street Carson City, NV 89701

Cost: $10/person, Kids 3 and under (sitting on a lap) are FREE

Take a ride on the Santa Train featuring historic equipment from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Visit Santa Claus and receive a candy cane aboard the train.

Write a letter to Santa at the “Letters to Santa” table. Hot beverages will be available from Bon Fire Coffee Collective. Raffle prizes and more! “Boarding Time” is fifteen (15) minutes before “Departure Time”.

*Please note: A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase in advance at the admission desk for each weekend (when available). As always, walk-up tickets will be available for purchase for each train.

Holiday Treat – Carson City Symphony

Date: Dec. 14, 2025 at 4pm

Location: Carson City Community Center

Cost: $18/General Admission, $15/Seniors, Students, & Symphony Association Members, and FREE for Youth (ages 18 and under)

It’s a Holiday Treat for all – a feast of seasonal and holiday entertainment in many styles! The Annual Holiday Treat Concert will return this year on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street. The Carson City Symphony, conducted by Music Director David Bugli and Assistant Director Brian Fox, will be joined by the Carson Chamber Singers, conducted by Choral Director Jordan Gotchy, and the Victorian Dancers, choreographed by Tiffany Alm.

The combined symphony and chorus will open the concert with Leroy Anderson’s familiar “A Christmas Festival.” The dancers will swirl and twirl to the music of Emile Waldteufel and Jose Feliciano. And there will be more holiday music, both old and new, to entertain you.

Holiday Wagon Rides

Carson Valley (Gardnerville, Minden, Genoa)

Gardnerville’s 20th Annual Christmas Kickoff

Date: Dec. 4, 2025 from 5 – 7:30pm

Location: Heritage Park; 1447 Courthouse Street, Gardnerville, NV 89410

Cost: FREE

Join us on December 4, 2025 for the 20th Annual Gardnerville Christmas Kickoff.
There are electric carriage rides around the park, Santa will be there, live entertainment, dancing Christmas Lights and fireworks (weather permitting).

Santa will arrive at 5:00 p.m.  Carriage rides around the park start after Santa arrives.  Entertainment begins at 5:30.

After the live entertainment will be the Christmas Light Show on the pavilion and the finale fireworks.   Hope to see you all there!

Christmas in Genoa

Date: Dec. 5, 2024 at 5:30pm

Location: Genoa Town Church (82 Nixon St, Genoa, NV 89411) then head to “Hope’s Tree” at the corner of Genoa and Main St. for official tree-lighting ceremony

Cost: FREE

We kick off the holiday season on Friday, December 5, 2025, with our Christmas in Genoa Caroling and Tree-lighting event. We will all gather at 5:30 p.m. at the Genoa Town Church for some classic Christmas Caroling. At about 6:15, we will head down to “Hope’s Tree” at the corner of Genoa and Main St. for the official lighting of the tree and tasty refreshments provided for everyone attending.

Breakfast with Santa (Genoa)

Date: Dec. 6, 2025 at 8:30am, 9:45am and 10:15am

Location: Genoa Town Hall; 2287 Main Street Genoa, NV 89411

Cost: $5/person 3 and under are FREE

On Saturday, December 6, Genoa sponsors a visit from Santa along with a Pancake Breakfast at Town Hall for the whole family! Breakfast consists of pancakes with syrup, sausage, breakfast beverages and, best of all, a visit from Santa Claus himself! This year, the breakfast has just THREE seatings — 8:30 a.m., 9:40 a.m., and 10:50 a.m. Tickets for children, age 3 years and younger, are FREE!

Tickets for the event are $7.50 and must be purchased prior to the breakfast event. Purchase tickets from the Town Office by calling (775) 782-8696. Tickets will be available for purchase in November — Seating is limited and tickets go fast!

Breakfast with Santa (The Shops at Heavenly Village)

Date: Dec. 6, 13, 20, 2025 at 8am & 9am

Location: Fire and Ice Restaurant at The Shops at Heavenly Village, 4100 Lake Tahoe Blvd

Cost: $20/Kids, $30/Adults

Seeing is believing! Bring the whole family to see Santa, take photos, and enjoy one of the heartiest breakfasts the village has to offer!

Access to Santa & Mr.s Claus are inlcuded with the purchase of an interactive breakfast.

Parade of Lights

Date: Dec. 6, 2025 at 5pm

Location: Heritage Park to Minden Town Park

Cost: FREE

Come together with your family and friends, and don’t forget to bring your blankets and chairs as you prepare to enjoy the Floats, Marching Bands, Color Guard, and of course, a very special guest from the North Pole. They will be making their way along Highway 395, beginning at Eddy Street and concluding at Minden Park.

Reno

The Nutcracker

South Creek Christmas Festival & Tree Lighting

Join us as we kick off the Christmas season at the fourth annual South Creek Christmas Festival! This event exists to provide a fun, free event for the whole family, where Living Stones South Reno can bless our community and stimulate business for our South Creek neighbors.

Whatever your idea of Christmas fun is, there is something for you! Indulge in festive treats, roast s’mores, and chestnuts by an open fire, create memorable crafts, and take photos to remember the moment.

As the sun sets and the excitement builds, join us for a celebratory tree lighting that will illuminate the night with the spirit of Christmas. The South Creek Christmas Festival is where cherished memories and holiday cheer come together in perfect harmony.

Magic of Santa Craft Faire

Peanutcracker: The Story in a Nutshell

Date: Nov. 23, 2025 at 1pm and 5pm

Location: Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, 100 S. Virginia St.

Experience the magic of the holidays in this delightful, family-friendly adaptation of the beloved classic Nutcracker. Perfect for younger audiences, Peanutcracker – The Story in a Nutshell condenses the timeless tale into a charming 45-minute performance that captures all the wonder, color, and festive spirit of the season.

This heartwarming production follows Clara and her Nutcracker Prince through a whirlwind of magical adventures—enchanted snowflakes, twirling flowers, and visits to the Land of Sweets—all set to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score. Narrated to help guide children through the story, Peanutcracker offers an engaging introduction to the world of ballet while keeping the pace lively and accessible for all ages.

Presented by the Sierra Nevada Ballet, the show features a blend of professional company dancers and talented local youth performers, creating a vibrant community experience that celebrates artistry, imagination, and holiday tradition.

Siamsa: A Celtic Christmas

Siamsa – A Celtic Christmas is an enchanting holiday musical that will captivate the entire family! Featuring International Irish Dance Champions and an outstanding cast of the finest dancers, vocalists, musicians and actors. This production takes you into the magical world of Celtic traditions and customs from Galicia, Spain through Ireland, Scotland and beyond as it searches for the true meaning of Christmas.

Spirit of the Season

Gather the family for a true holiday tradition. The Reno Phil, Reno Phil Chorus and conductor Jason Altieri invite you to the Spirit of the Season, a classic holiday celebration full of orchestral arrangements, jazzy numbers, traditional holiday tunes and carols. Choose from four showtimes wrapped in fantasy and fun for the whole family!

A.V.A. Ballet Presents The Nutcracker

Date: Dec. 19 – 21, 2025

Location:  Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, 100 S. Virginia St.

The stage at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts will be alive with a sugar plum fairy and dancing mice as A.V.A. Ballet Theatre presents the annual Nutcracker Ballet

Artistic director Alexander Van Alstyne has choreographed an exciting rendition of the popular holiday ballet and the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s moving score. Laura Jackson will be conducting the orchestra. Due to popular demand, A.V.A. Ballet Theatre will continue to have a fifth performance.

Reno Dance Company Presents The Nutcracker

Date: Dec. 14, 2025 at 3pm & 7pm

With a cast of the finest talents and a lavish blend of costumes, scenery and outstanding choreography, The Reno Dance Company’s extraordinary production creates a magical winter wonderland that mesmerizes children and ballet enthusiasts of all ages.

Holiday Bowl at the National Bowling Stadium

Sparks

9th Annual 39 North Pole Village

Date: Dec. 4 – 5, 2025 from 4 – 9pm & Dec. 6, 2025 from 11am – 9pm (Parade Day)

Downtown Sparks will become a giant holiday wonderland as 39 North Downtown hosts the 10th Annual 39 North Pole Village. This unique holiday festival features interactive art, nonstop live entertainment and hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights, a giant heated vendor tent, food trucks, Hot Chocolate Cottage playland, free train rides, free Santa photos & and endless amounts of holiday cheer.

Light Up the Night!

Date: Dec. 5, 2025 from 5 – 8pm

Location: Horizon Church Campus, 2025 E Prater Way Sparks, NV 89434

Cost: FREE

Light Up the Night and celebrate the Christmas season with Horizon’s community Christmas event!

FREE Family Activities available throughout the whole night include; pictures with Santa, fire pits & s’mores, hot cocoa, character meet & greet, bounce houses, kids’ crafts, and carnival games.

Stories of Christmas Show at 5:30pm, 6:30pm, and 7:30pm:
Join us inside the auditorium for a family-friendly, fun show as our captivating storyteller leads us through the tale of how Christmas came to be, accompanied by heartwarming music. Come and see the journey through time and tradition, where the true meaning of Christmas is revealed in all its glory. (Shows are 15 minutes)

We will also have some amazing food trucks on campus serving up some delicious food and drinks for purchase.

The event is 5-8pm. Come for a few minutes or stay for the whole time!

Hometowne Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting

Date: Dec. 4 – 6, 2025

Location: Victorian Square, 764-794 Victorian Ave

Join us as we reflect on our childhood wonder and celebrate the magical place that is Toyland! Don your best toy soldier hats, create an exciting train set or hot wheels track, or recreate your favorite doll’s outfit to celebrate the toys that brought us joy! Whether you found a jack in the box on Christmas morning, spent Christmas day trying to solve a Rubix Cube, or feeding a Tamagotchi, show us the toys that made your childhood special!

The City of Sparks’ Hometowne Christmas parade weekend starts Friday, December 5th with the annual tree lighting ceremony presented by Nugget Casino Resort 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. next to the large gazebo on the corner of Victorian Avenue and Victorian Plaza Circle East with live entertainment and free hot chocolate! Mayor Ed Lawson will flip the switch to light the city’s permanent living Christmas tree, a 60-foot Giant Sequoia.

Virginia City

Electric Holiday Train O’ Lights

Date: Nov. 28 – 29 & Dec 5 – 6, Dec. 12 – 13, Dec. 19 – 20, 2025

Location: Virginia & Truckee Railroad Depot, 165 F Street, Virginia City, NV

There’s no better place to be than Virginia City for the Holiday Steam Extravaganza of Lights! After strolling the boardwalk, shopping, and enjoying festive carols, head to the 1870 Virginia & Truckee Depot to catch the dazzling Holiday Train O’ Lights. The V&T staff ensures every detail is perfect to bring holiday cheer to you and your family.

Trains depart from the Virginia City Depot at 5pm, 6:30pm, and 8pm. The 45-minute narrated steam train ride to Gold Hill is decked out in thousands of lights, creating unforgettable memories for all!

V&T Candy Cane Express

Date: Nov. 28 – 29 & Dec 6 – 7, Dec. 13 – 14, Dec. 20 – 21, 2025

Location: Virginia & Truckee Railroad Depot, 165 F Street, Virginia City, NV

Cost: $28/Ticket, Kids 4 and under are FREE

Treat your kids to some holiday magic with a ride on the V&T Candy Cane Express, pulled by a festively decorated diesel engine. Enjoy hot chocolate, cider, cookies, and holiday songs as you travel to the North Pole to see Santa and his elves. Every passenger gets a gift bag and light stick. Children 4 and under ride free on a parent’s lap.

The 45-minute ride departs at noon, 1:30pm, and 3pm, starting November 29. Tickets are $28—book early, as this popular event sells out fast.

Downtown Holiday Festival

Date: Nov. 21, 2025 from 4:15pm – 6pm

Location: Downtown Historic Truckee, 10065 Donner Pass Rd

Cost: FREE

A Downtown Truckee tradition for over forty-five years, local children decorate trees to adorn the streets through the holidays.   Hot cocoa, provided by Rotary Club of Truckee and a visit from Santa as well as the lighting of the traditional Bud Fish Tree along with the rest of Historic Downtown Truckee.  It’s a sight to see for the holidays!   

Christmas On The Comstock

Date: Dec. 1 – 31, 2024 (All Day)

Location: Virginia City, 86 S C St.

Christmas on the Comstock is all about tradition, and there’s no better place to combine history with festive cheer than Virginia City.

Throughout December, this Victorian-style holiday celebration offers something for everyone: from the official tree lighting and saloon crawl to the Believe Again Christmas Giveaway, V&T Candy Cane Express, Train O’ Lights, and more. Get ready to make this your new favorite holiday tradition!

11th Annual Holiday Faire at St. Mary’s Art Center

Date: Dec. 6, 2025 from 10am – 4pm & Dec. 7, 2025 from 10am – 3pm

Location: St. Mary’s Art Center, 55 R St.

St. Mary’s Art Center offers a truly festive holiday shopping experience with over 20 local and regional artists and makers sharing and selling their creations in a decorated, music-filled space. This is the perfect shopping opportunity to give truly one-of-a-kind gifts while also supporting artists and artisans.

Parade Of Lights

Date: Dec. 6, 2025 & Dec. 13, 2025 at 5pm

Event Details

The Parade of Lights & Magical Christmas Fireworks Show makes Christmas on the Comstock shine. Parade of Lights Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 at 5 PM See the spirit of Christmas travel through our historic town as Christmas cheer lights up the streets with our annual Parade of Lights. Everyone is welcome to participate! Bring the entire family and join in the fun. Sip some hot cocoa and enjoy sweet treats from our local shops as you take in the warmth of the Christmas spirit. Parade of Lights lineup starts at 4:30 p.m. at Fourth Ward School. Light up your vehicle, add some music and join in the festivities! Participants are encouraged to cruise back and forth through the town until the fireworks show start at 6 p.m. If you are a walking group, you’ll be at the front of the line so vehicles can cruise C Street.

Small Town Christmas

There’s just something magical about Christmas in a small town, and no one does it quite like Yerington! Between the twinkle of Main Street lights, the smell of cocoa and cider in the air, and bumping into at least seven people you know at every event… it’s the most wonderful (and social) time of the year!

Discover the magic of Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale as it comes to life on stage. Featuring the hit songs “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas,” The Grinch discovers there’s more to Christmas than he bargained for in this heart-warming holiday classic. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Whos, an endlessly cheerful bunch bursting with holiday spirit.

“A Christmas Rock Story” Cirque Spectacular – Not Confirmed for 2024

Date: Dec 19 – 31

Location: Grand Sierra Resort

This will be a family-friendly cirque-style show with a rockin’ holiday twist. The show also features Santa’s Motorcycle Globe Riders, a daredevil troupe who will have audiences on the edge of their seat as they perform gravity-defying feats inside a giant metal globe. Local guests with valid ID will receive two tickets for the price of one for any Sunday–Thursday show (purchase in person at box office).
