Halloween is one of my favorite holidays – kids trick-or-treating, Halloween parties, seeing all of the costumes, it’s a wonderful time of year. Did I mention the candy – I mean hello, it’s time for those kiddos to pay their dues (I’ll take a two Kit Kats and an Almond Joy, please). But, if they don’t have costumes, we’re screwed on the candy.
Please tell me, I am not the only one that procrastinated on getting costumes for the family? We’re sharing our favorite last minute Halloween costumes for kids that won’t break the bank! Most of these items can be found around your home, so let’s get to it!
6 Last Minute Halloween Costumes for Kids
The last thing you want, is to go out spending $50 on a costume your kid is going to wear for maybe 2 hours – that is if there isn’t a blow out. Or a tantrum because they don’t want to wear that costume anymore. If all else fails, bring in these classic last minute costumes.
Scarecrow
Grab those overalls and a little plaid shirt and you’ve got yourself a scarecrow! You can pick up some Halloween paint or use some makeup your already have and create a scarecrow face on your little one.
Add some rosy cheeks, a stitched mouth, and maybe some cowboy boots and you are all set.

Bandit
This bandit costume is perfect for the littles ones. All you need is a black and white striped shirt, black beanie, a white bag, and some felt to make a mask!

Diver
How cute is this little diver halloween costume? I love how simple it is to create, plus all the clothing will definitely be used again and again. Grab a black long sleeve shirt and black leggings to create the wetsuit look, top with a puffy vest from your favorite store, and craft the rest of your scuba gear using this easy tutorial. Easy peasy!

Lumberjack
Another simple, yet absolutely adorable costume idea is a lumberjack. All you need is a plaid button up, some jeans, boots, and a beanie! Paint a beard onto your little one and create an axe out of cardboard like they did here!

Clark Kent as Superman
Superman isn’t always a hero, sometimes he’s just Clark Kent. Snag a superman shirt at your favorite store (we’ve seen them in the pajama section as well) and use some menswear to create the full look. A little suit and tie with an open button-up revealing Superman’s shirt and some glasses and you’ve got the full look.

Morton Salt Girl
Grab a yellow dress and an umbrella and you’ve got yourself the Morton Salt girl. This is such a simple, yet so cute halloween costume that can be pulled off in a flash. Yellow isn’t a huge fall color though, so if you don’t have a yellow dress in your kid’s closet beforehand, this could be a difficult last minute costume to pull off.

Halloween doesn’t have to break the bank, especially after you’ve spent money carving pumpkins, bringing snacks for the kiddos school halloween parties, and bought candy to pass out on halloween night.
