Discovery Museum

National Automobile Museum

Hours: Monday – Sunday 9:00am – 5:00pm

Activities: For the car lover in the family! The National Automobile Museum (The Harrah’s Car Collection) has been recognized as “One of America’s Top Ten Automobile Museums.” Almost every day, the Museum’s 157-seat Theatre offers daily presentations included with your admission.

Fleischmann Planetarium

Hours: Vary

Activities: Open for pre-arranged field trips seven days a week. Public shows are on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. They offer family and school science nights and so much more.

Zoo’s

Animal Ark 

Hours: Tuesday through Sunday: 10:00 am – 4:30 pm (weather permitting). For weather-related conditions please check their social media.  Closed Mondays.

Activities: The Animal Ark is just an hour outside Reno, Nevada.  It makes for the perfect mini adventure! It is a local nonprofit organization that is a wildlife sanctuary. The Animal Ark is home to a variety of animals.  Including a bear, cheetahs, turtles, a mountain lion, and more.

Food: Pack a picnic and enjoy after your visit!

Sierra Nevada Zoological Park 

Hours: Monday – Sunday 10:00am –  5:00pm (Weather Permitting)

Activities:  Home to over 40 species of animals. They have many animals for you to view and learn about. Want to get real up close? Visit the petting zoo where you can feed and pet the herd of Fallow Deer, a variety of goats, alpacas, llamas, sheep, and miniature cows!

Food: Pack a picnic to enjoy there.

Development Based

Gymboree

Hours: Vary. Based on class/open gym schedule.

Activities: Offer play-based classes for ages 0-5. This is membership-based with specific class schedules.  They do offer an “Open Gym” throughout the week that is open to the public for ages 0-6. Find open gym times here.

Food: Not available.

Wonder and Unwind 

Hours: Monday – Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sundays open for private parties.

Activities: Developmentally rich environment for your children to build their skills in all areas of child development in an age-appropriate, supervised, unstructured play area. While they play and grow, you can either engage in your child’s play, or you can simply take a breather and relax in our parent lounge.  Day passes and membership options are available.

Food: Coffee, tea, and small plates are available for purchase.
