As a mom of three, I’m always looking for ways to stay on top of my health without adding more stress or items to my already full plate. Between homeschooling, managing the household, and finding time for myself, it’s easy for my own wellness to take a back seat. That’s why I’ve been loving the Oura Ring — specifically, the Oura Ring 4.
I’ve been wearing my Oura Ring now for over 1 year now and while the Oura Ring might look simple, it offers lots of insights that help me better understand how my body is doing each day. If you’re a busy mama who cares about long-term health and longevity, here’s my full breakdown and review.

What Is the Oura Ring 4?
The Oura Ring 4 is a lightweight, titanium smart ring that tracks your sleep, readiness, heart rate, activity, temperature trends, and menstrual cycle — all without a screen which was a must for me! It connects to an easy-to-use app and gives you science-backed feedback in a clean, user-friendly dashboard.
Unlike a smartwatch, the Oura Ring focuses more on what your body is telling you, rather than how many steps you’re taking or calories you’re burning. It’s wellness-focused, not performance-focused — and that’s exactly what I wanted.

What Does the Oura Ring Track?
Here’s a quick rundown of what the Oura Ring 4 monitors:
- Sleep Tracking: Tracks deep, REM, and light sleep stages, time in bed, and how long it takes to fall asleep. You get a daily Sleep Score that gives you a clear picture of how restorative your sleep really was.
- Readiness Score: Uses a combination of your sleep, activity, heart rate variability (HRV), and temperature to tell you how recovered your body is. Perfect for knowing whether to push yourself or take it easy.
- Heart Rate Monitoring: Tracks resting heart rate, nighttime heart rate trends, and daytime heart rate.
- Body Temperature: Detects even small changes in your body temperature, which can signal illness or cycle changes.
- Activity Tracking: Measures total steps, calories burned, and movement throughout the day. It’s basic, but helpful.
- Cycle Tracking: One of my favorite features — more on that below!
- SpO2 Sensor (Blood Oxygen): Optional overnight monitoring to check your oxygen levels while sleeping.

My Favorite Features as a Mom
Sleep + Recovery Insights
Let’s be honest — moms aren’t exactly known for getting perfect sleep. But the Oura Ring has helped me identify what helps or hurts my sleep quality. I’ve noticed how eating late, screen time, or even certain supplements affect how rested I feel in the morning. I especially love the Readiness Score — it tells me when to slow down and when my body is primed for more activity.
Cycle Tracking
I’ve used a lot of period tracking apps, but the Oura Ring is hands down the most accurate I’ve experienced. It knows when my period is coming and even when I’m ovulating — sometimes before I do. The ring helps me recognize which phase of my cycle I’m in and how that might affect my mood, energy, or cravings. This has changed the way I plan my meals and workouts, and it’s made me feel way more connected to my body.
Early Illness Detection
Twice now, my ring picked up early signs of illness before I even felt symptoms — a slight rise in body temperature or changes in my HRV. Sure enough, within a day or two, I was sick. It’s like having a gentle nudge to slow down and support your immune system before things escalate.
Customer Support
My first ring had a battery issue while still under warranty, and I was so impressed with how easy it was to get a replacement. Oura sent a new ring quickly with no hassle at all. Their customer service was fast and efficient.
A Few Things to Consider
While I love my Oura Ring, it’s not perfect — and I think it’s important to share a couple of things that might be deal-breakers for some.
Not Great for Fitness Tracking
If you’re a runner, cyclist, or someone who wants detailed GPS tracking, real-time stats, or in-depth workout analytics, the Oura Ring probably isn’t the best fit. It’s more about recovery and daily wellness than hardcore fitness. I have friends who use the Oura Ring for daily wellness and the Apple watch for fitness.
Monthly Subscription Required
To access the full range of features in the Oura app, you do need to pay a monthly subscription (currently around $5.99/month). While I personally think the insights are well worth it, it’s something to factor into the cost if you’re budgeting for a new wearable.

Final Thoughts
The Oura Ring 4 has helped me tune into my body. It’s comfortable, and totally mom-life friendly — no charging every day and no screens, crazy notifications, or distractions.
If you’re a mama who’s passionate about your health and wants a simple way to check in with your body — especially around sleep, stress, recovery, and your menstrual cycle — I highly recommend giving the Oura Ring 4 a try!
