As we head into 2019 we are making our resolutions and plans on how we are going to keep them. Nothing like some good podcasts to keep us motivated! We are sharing our favorite podcasts for you to add to your subscriptions for 2019!
Kacey and I have been listening to podcasts for a while now. I started back in 2017 and Kacey started listening to them in 2018. While we both LOVE listening to music, podcasts have definitely changed our lives, with us listening to them more than we listen to music.
We have a lot of recommendations to podcasts we love! These podcasts have made us more knowledgeable, more understanding, have helped us grow our business (and gave us the push we needed to start this one!), and have all added a little something to our lives.
What can podcasts do for you this year?
13 Podcast Recommendations to Listen to This Year
Business Podcasts
How I Built This
Probably, one of my favorite podcasts, How I Built This by NPR takes you into the world of hardworking individuals who built hundreds to billion dollar businesses most often because they took a chance.
From Lyft to Spanx, Whole Foods to Clif Bar – if you’re an entrepreneur looking for inspiration, motivation, and have some grit, this is for you!
RISE
A podcast hosted by Rachel Hollis, CEO mogul. In each episode, her conversations with other business powerhouses provide insight into the highs and lows of business and life – with real-life takeaways.
Rachel also is the author of one of our favorite books, Girl, Wash Your Face.
Goal Digger
Jenna Kutcher brings you the productivity tips, social media strategies, business hacks, and inspirational stories that can help YOU design your dream career. Plus, she just became a new mama!
We really like the Goal Digger podcast because Jenna shares tangible tips and hacks that she used to become a self-made millionaire in photography, online courses, Instagram sponsorships, and navigating the world of being a #girlboss social media influencer.
The Life Coach School Podcast
Master Coach, Brooke Castillo, is your go-to resource for learning, growing, and become certified as a Life Coach and Weight Loss Coach. But you don’t have to be either of these – we aren’t!
We love her podcast because you can choose which episodes you listen to (order doesn’t necessarily matter) and almost every podcast we have listened to has hit home in some way. I like to think of Brooke as my pro-bono therapist because she has some amazing outlooks to share.
The Reno Social
A local Reno, NV podcast featuring the stories and tales of local entrepreneurs and small business owners. The Reno Social was created by new mama, Sam, and later joined by co-host Sommer.

Relationships
Rise Together
Rise Together is hosted by Rachel Hollis and Dave Hollis where each episode is filled with advice that will get you and your partner to be the best versions of yourselves.
I will say that my husband, Kit, does not care for this podcast, but I do enjoy episodes here and there.
Marriage and Martinis
Marriage and Martinis is an attempt to present a real, authentic marriage at its core: the love, hate, teamwork, struggles, laughter, humiliation, and ever-changing dynamics that comprise spousal relationships.
Danielle and Adam explore every hilarious, heartfelt, shocking, embarrassing, and completely inappropriate facet of marriage and parenting. It’s a bumpy ride, but it’s worth it.
*Note – There is some explicit language as it is unscripted.
Heavyweight
One of my all-time favorite podcasts and one of the first that I listened to. This is a cry, laugh, and be on the edge of your seat type of podcast because you never know what is going to happen.
Jonathan Goldstein takes you on road trips, thorny reunions, and difficult conversations as he backpedals his way into the past like a therapist with a time machine.
*Note – There is some explicit language as it is unscripted.
Motherhood/Parenting
Risen Motherhood
A weekly podcast for moms. A space to remember we are not alone in our experiences, be challenged to have joy among the chaos, remember grace covers guilt, and seek the truth of the gospel above all else.
This is a podcast for the imperfect mother, still learning, still growing and still fully recognizing she doesn’t have it all together – but comes every day, to the base of the cross, to seek the one who does.
*Note – this podcast does reference religion.
Janet Lansbury
Each episode addresses a reader’s parenting issue through the lens of Janet’s respectful parenting philosophy. Janet is a respected parenting adviser, author, and guest lecturer in which her work informs inspires, and supports caregivers of infants and toddlers across the globe, helping to create relationships of respect, trust, and love.
The Good Life Momma
The Good Life Momma was created by founder Brett Jansen. All moms struggle to create balance regardless if they are working full time, part time or stay at home. Rather than leave the listeners with the typical “Kumbaya, being a mom is the best job ever BS”, she will dig in deep discussing topics you want to talk about but just can’t.

Nutrition
Dietitians Unplugged
Join Aaron Flores and Glenys Oyston as they explore the idea of health and wellness from a new perspective. They discuss topics that will help your health, body image and fitness without obsessing on the scale or counting calories.
They believe in Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating, and body positivity and they want to help you build the confidence to ditch the scale and embrace your health without shaming your body.
Miscellaneous
Armchair Expert
We love Dax Shepard and this podcast dives deep to discover people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy.
Come celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. Dax has more than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training.
“I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.”
2019 will be a big year for podcasts, even bigger than 2018. More people are jumping into the podcast world and every month we are discovering new podcasts that we like. Maybe NNM will step into the podcasting world *wink wink*.
