Prioritize Rest

Rest is essential for our physical and mental well-being. It helps to reduce stress, improve our mood, and increase our energy levels. When we don’t get enough rest, we become more irritable, easily fatigued, and less productive.

As a mom, it’s important to prioritize rest and take care of yourself, so you can better care for your family. Prioritizing rest can help you feel more relaxed, refreshed, and rejuvenated, making you a happier and more present mom.

Ways to Prioritize Rest

Take a Break

It’s okay to take a break from your busy schedule. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, take some time to sit down, relax, and clear your mind. You can use this time to read a book, take a bath, listen to music, or simply sit in silence.

Ask for Help

Being a mom doesn’t mean you have to do everything on your own. It’s okay to ask for help from your partner, family, or friends. They can help you with household chores, take care of the kids, or simply provide emotional support.

Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness meditation or breathing exercises can help you relax and reduce stress. Find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably, close your eyes, and focus on your breath.

Even just a few minutes of mindfulness can help you feel more centered and calm.

Exercise

Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and improve your mood. Find an activity you enjoy, such as yoga, running, or swimming, and try to incorporate it into your daily routine.

Pro Tip: A 20-minute walk or workout can make a big difference.

Outsource Some Tasks

If you can afford it, consider outsourcing some household tasks like cleaning, laundry, or grocery shopping. This can free up some time for you to rest and take care of yourself.

I personally utilize grocery services like Thrive Market and Ecart.  It saves me time, energy, and money.

Say No to Unnecessary Commitments

This has been something I have learned the hard way. Be mindful of your commitments and say no to anything that is not essential or that will add more stress to your life. Remember it’s okay to prioritize rest and take care of yourself.

Take a Nap

Here is your permission to nap. Seriously!  I know we so often feel guilty for sitting but if your body is telling you to rest, listen!

If your children are napping or at school, take a nap too. Even just a short power nap can help you feel more refreshed and energized.

Social Media Break

Scrolling social media may “feel” like rest, but I promise it is not.  Be mindful of the time you are scrolling.  Set screen limits for yourself and even practice screen-free days.
