Riverside Farmers Market, Reno’s Year Round Market

Riverside Farmers Market is Reno’s only farmers market operating year-round!

They are located at 2055 Idlewild Drive, Reno, Nevada

Riverside Farmers Market is open Sundays from 8am-1pm

A Sustainable Market

Riverside Farmers Market is a family-friendly market focused on building a community of sustainable (pesticide-free) local farmers and ranchers. They only allow farmers and ranchers who are using clean and sustainable growing practices to join their market.

Even their other vendors have to show a commitment to sustainability, by either making food with organic ingredients wherever possible or having an environmental commitment in their artisan business.

“We wanted to create a market where no one has to worry about what a farmer or rancher might be spraying on their crops or feeding their animals. As organic farmers and parents to small children ourselves, we’re not interested in buying food that carries harmful chemicals alongside its nutrition.

We want this market to showcase the future of farming and what conscious consumerism can help grow in a community.” said Kasey Crispin, Director of the market that she and her partner, Zach Cannady, created in the winter of 2018.

Mobile Market

Can’t make it to the weekly farmers market? They also run three satellite market booths called “Mobile Markets” where they bring produce and other vendor items to areas that aren’t often trekking over to their main market at McKinley.

You can also register for a MarketBox subscription for an array of hyper-fresh produce from small, sustainable farms and explore a unique display of artisanal products each and every week.

These Mobile Markets are set up at Damonte Ranch Park in South Reno, Canyon Creek Park in Northwest Reno, and Virginia Lake Park in central Reno. You can get all the details about the Mobile Markets here.

Giving Back To Our Local Community

Beyond providing a space for community connection and great food, they also accept donations  (located at the info booth) for distribution to the homeless each Monday night. Nonperishable foods, clothing, and blankets (adult only, fortunately, there are not many children they encounter in their street handouts) can be brought to their weekly market for donation.

In addition, they also operate a “GiftBox” program where any individual or family in need of wholesome, organic produce can submit a request for a donated box of produce.

Requests can be submitted here and are simply picked up at the end of their weekly market, no questions asked.

Get Involved

As a nonprofit, the Riverside Farmers Market is always welcoming volunteers and support. They have a big goal of eventually closing down part of Riverside Drive to host their weekly market to make it the most charming throwback to the open-air bazaars of the past.

If you’d like to get involved, simply email Kasey at info@renofarmersmarket.com.

Thank you to Riverside Farmers Market for sponsoring this post. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own. Read our disclosure.
