Spring Break is here! You may be asking yourself what you are going to do with the kids for 2 weeks!  We have you covered! We are sharing spring break activities in Reno and beyond! We are sharing ideas for all ages and there is sure to be something that will fit your budget!

Spring Break Activities in Reno, Sparks, Carson City

CHICKADEE RIDGE EXPERIENCE

Location: 29 miles from Reno

Sledding and snowshoeing (snow boots okay when it is packed snow) Chickadee Ridge is located 1.2 miles southwest of Mt. Rose Summit. Park along the side of Mt. Rose Highway to access the trailhead. It begins in the dense forest area.

Follow the established trail up to the elevated area, Chickadee Ridge, for the lookout over the lake and the chirping birds—  you will have amazing views from above Lake Tahoe!

CIRCUS CIRCUS MIDWAY

Hours: Daily from 11am – 10pm

Location: 500 N Sierra St, Reno, NV 89503

In addition to the arcade games, it’s complete with every type of carnival game.  An activity the entire family will enjoy. The food court is also open.

Enjoy circus shows and midway acts!  Shows are free and run about every 30 – 45 minutes. Shows start at the following times:

  • Mon – Fri: 5:30pm
  • Sat: 12:45 PM
  • Sun: 11 AM

Tip:  Use the free Circus Circus parking garage for easy parking and access.

DAY TRIP TO VIRGINIA CITY

Head up to Virginia City for a day of fun and history.  With several museums for the kids to explore including The Way It Was Museum.  Don’t forget to stop by the Silver Queen to see the Silver Dollar Queen and the history of Mark Twain.  End your trip with a sweet treat at one of the many sweet shops!

GRASSROOTS 

Location: 660 E Grove St, Reno, NV

Hours:  Monday: Noon – Sunset / Tuesday – Sunday 9am-Sunset

Plan a visit to Grassroots Books! Books for every budget.  Outside books are $1 or less, plus every Sunday, you can fill a bag for $5. Inside you’ll find new and used books also for a discounted price!

If you or your kids have books to sell they buy used books on Thursdays from 9am-2pm.  You can also donate them any day!

Sign up online for their “instant library” for your kids! Kids ages 2-8 can pick 50 FREE books each. Bonus: Everyone gets 1 fee book a year! Sign up here.

HYPERBOWL 

Location: Grand Sierra Resort Bowling Center

Hours: Daily from 10am – 1am

Bowling is fun but have you ever tried HyperBowl? HyperBowling is a more interactive experience and keeps the kids engaged!

Pro Tip: Make a reservation as lanes book up fast!

JORDAN WORLD CIRCUS

Date: March 17-19

Location: Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, 1350 N Wells Ave, Reno, NV 89512

Cost: Kids $15, Adults $15, Family pack $40.00 (online prices) Parking can also be an additional fee.

Run away and join the circus! Enjoy aerialists, elephants, showgirls, clowns, and more!

SPARKS MARINA

Location: 300 Howard Drive, Sparks, NV

Head to the Sparks Marina! We love to grab a beverage from Lighthouse Coffee and then do the Marina Loop!  You can walk, bike, roller skate, and even scooter around the 2-mile loop.

Stop halfway and play at the newly remodeled park!

MAGIC CARPET GOLF

Hours: Starting March 12 they are open 10am-6pm daily (weather permitting)

Location: 6925 S Virginia St, Reno, NV, United States, Nevada

Enjoy a miniature golf experience that is family-oriented entertainment!  With 3 different courses to choose from or play all 66 holes!

ROLLER KINGDOM – SCHOOLS OUT SKATE SESSIONS

Date: Monday-Friday, 1pm-4pm, March 20-31th – March 25th

Location: 515 E 7th St, Reno, NV 89512

Cost: $7 per person (includes skate rentals)

Hit up the rink with your family and even some friends for Roller Kingdoms spring break sessions!

SCHEELS

Hours: Monday – Saturday 9am-9pm / Sundays 10am-9pm

Location: 1200 Scheels Drive, Sparks, NV 89434

Scheels is one of our favorite pastime activities.  Bored? Let’s go to Scheels!  My kids love looking at the fish in the aquarium and the animal displays!  Ferris wheel rides at $1 per person and a game of mini bowling is $2 a person.  They even have a cafe and candy shop.

SLEDDING AT GRANBLIBAKKEN

Location: 725 Granlibakken Rd, Tahoe City, CA.

Hours: 9am-4:30 Friday – Monday and 11am-4:30 Tuesday-Thursday

Cost: $25 weekday / $35 weekends and holidays

Book your 90-minute sledding session in advance to guarantee your spot! Don’t bring your own sled, all sled tickets include a saucer. Restrooms are available.

DISCOVERY MUSEUM

Location: 490 S. Center Street, Reno, NV

Hours: Vary

Cost: $11 – Children (ages 1-17), $13 – Adults, $12 – Seniors (ages 65+), Free – Children under age 1.  If you are local to Reno, we definitely recommend the family or traveling membership!  Family Membership $125 (year), and Traveling $150.

The Discovery Museum is a family favorite.  We love all the different rooms and activities.  The science experiments are also a favorite!

Budget-Friendly Option:  Wednesday after 4pm admission is just $5 per person and the museum is open until 8pm!

BONUS: The Monster Fish Exhibition opens on March 18th and will run through January 2024.

EXHIBITION DINOSAUR

Days/Times: Monday-Tuesday | Closed, Wednesday-Saturday | 10:00am – 4:00pm, Sunday | Noon – 4:00pm
Cost:  Ticket Prices are $10 for Adults and $9 for Children and Seniors

Expedition Dinosaur features 10 fully animatronic, larger-than-life dinosaurs with realistic movements and sounds.  It also includes interactive stations, photo-ops, video centers, quizzes, educational videos, and more!

There are also a few hands-on interactive technologies throughout the exhibit that are fun for kids of all ages.

WASHOE COUNTY LIBRARY SPRING BREAK

Hours: All week long
Ages: Varies
Cost: Free

Not only is the library a great idea, but most of the events and activities are free! Check out our list of storytime options throughout Washoe County, plus we’ve linked their calendar for a full view at all the events they have going on.

WILD ISLAND ADVENTURE PARK

Hours: Spring break hours: Sun – Thurs 10am-10pm and Friday – Saturday 10am – Midnight

Location: 250 Wild Island Ct, Sparks, NV 89434

Cost: Varies

Make the most of the break with a day at Wild Island! Our go-to option is their Pick 3 ($29.99) or All Access Band ($54.99).  These options will allow you to truly enjoy all that Wild Island has to offer!  You are never too young (or old) to enjoy some laser tag.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly idea let the kids burn off energy inside high velocity.

Food Favorites: Pizza, nachos, and of course the Dippin Dots!
