Summer is in full swing and we hope you are enjoying the time with your family. We have put together a list of local activities and events that are budget-friendly.  These summer activities are $10 or under!

Summer Activities $10 and Under In Northern Nevada

SIERRA NEVADA LAVENDER & HONEY FESTIVAL

Date: July 10, 2022 from 10 am – 6 pm

Location: Idlewild Park

This “scent-sational” event features lavender and honey, arts and crafts, food, demonstrations, music, entertainment, and more. It’s a festival for all ages, so invite your friends and family to enjoy a beautiful day.

RENO CHALK ART & MUSIC FESTIVAL AT THE ATLANTIS  

More than 70 artists gather to create incredible artwork with chalk. Friday – Sunday, July 8 – 10, 2022 in the Atlantis West Parking Lot.

Location: Atlantis West Parking Lot

Dates/Times: July 8-10th

Cost: Free

Attend on the final day for the best photos / to see the completed projects.

FAMILY DAY AT BUNDOX BOCCE

Date: Every Sunday from 12pm-4pm

Location: Bundox Bocce

Bring the family for FREE bocce play every Sunday from noon to 4pm. Check their website for date exclusions and closures.

ROLLER KINGDOM SCHOOLS OUT SUMMER SESSIONS 

Date: Monday – Friday, June 8 – Aug 12, 2022 from 1pm – 4pm

Location: Roller Kingdom

Cost: $7 (includes skates)

Head to our local roller ring and enjoy a skate session!  So much fun for the entire family

RENO ACES BASEBALL 

Date: July 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31

Location: Greater Nevada Field

Cost: Select games $10 for Grass Berm Seating (which is a great spot for families!)

Take the family out to the Reno Aces baseball game!  Enjoy the game, good food, and the fireworks after every Friday home game!

SPLASH PADS

Visit a local splash pad and cool off!  Pack your towels, lunch and some shade!  Enjoy from a few local options.  Check out our complete list of splash pads here. Prices range from Free – $3.00!

BEACH DAY 

Head to the beach!  Pack a picnic, floaties, towels, sunscreen, some shade, and your set!  We love spending a day at the beach.  Check out our list of family-friendly beaches, certain beaches like Kings Beach or Sand Harbor offer parking for just $10 per car.

SUMMER MOVIE DEALS 

Enjoy a theater experience for a fraction of the price.  This Summer our local movie theaters are offering special showings starting ranging from $1.50-$2.00!  See theaters and movies here. 

GALENA CAMPFIRE PROGRAM SERIES

Location: Galena Creek Regional Park, North Entrance, 18250 Mt. Rose Hwy., Reno

Date: Every Friday through AUgust 5th, 2022 @ 8pm

Cost: FREE

The Galena Campfire Program Series is all about sharing that experience with the family. A different presenter is featured each week, including a variety of cultural music experiences, plus fun educational programs and marshmallow roasting. Blankets, low-back chairs, bug spray and flashlights are recommended. The programs are free, though donations are welcomed to support the program.

THE DISCOVERY ROOM

Date: Wednesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays from 10am-1pm

Location: The Discovery Room @ Rancho San Rafael Park

Come have fun with arts, crafts, coloring and storytelling.  The suggested ages are 3-10.

LAZY 5 SUMMER MUSIC SERIES

Located in Spanish Springs, the Lazy 5 concerts series kicks off June 15th through August 17. Look forward to concerts featuring local artists to entertain families, friends, and neighbors in the Spanish Springs/Sparks area.

Food trucks and mobile pub present at every show. Arrive early and bring a blanket/chairs.

Location: 7100 Pyramid Way, Sparks, NV 89436

Dates/Times: June 15-August 17, 2022, Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm

Cost: Free

EVENINGS ON THE RANCH: KANTU INKA

Every Wednesday in July for a special evening of family entertainment at 6pm! The historic ranch buildings will be open for guided tours at 6pm, followed by the program at 7pm. Bring a blanket, a lawn chairs, and a snack!

Location: Bartley Ranch Western Heritage Interpretive Center, 6000 Bartley Ranch Rd, Reno

Dates/Times: 6:30pm

HOME DEPOT KIDS WORKSHOPS

Head to home depot on the first Saturday of every month for a fun hands-on workshop! The kids will love creating something!

Location: Your local home depot

Dates/Times: First Saturday of every month / 9am-12pm

Cost: FREE

FARMERS MARKETS 

Support local growers while shopping for fresh fruits and veggies. There are a number of markets to choose from in the Reno-Sparks area.

Get the kids involved by having them ask the local vendors about the veggies or product they grow / make! My kids love to ask how to tell which fruits are ripe or about their growing practices.

EL RANCHO DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATER

Location: 555 El Rancho Dr.

Dates/Times: Hours vary.

Cost: $5.75-$8.25 for adults, $2.00 for children ages 5 to 11, Ages 4 and under free
