If your child is a fan of construction vehicles, trucks, police cars, and local heroes, TOUCH-A-TRUCK might be a great event for you to check out. It is one of TWO large truck and construction focused, family-friendly events held each year (the other is Construction vs. Cancer).
At TOUCH-A-TRUCK, families can see, touch, and climb aboard their favorite large vehicles! Explore emergency vehicles, big rigs, trucks, and tractors while interacting with the everyday heroes who operate them.
This event is a fundraiser for Family 2 Family Connection – a non-profit providing free family engagement classes and resources to families in the Las Vegas valley. As a result of this program, parents and guardians are empowered to be advocates for their children while being their first teacher.
This is an event typically held within the first two weeks of April. Here’s everything you need to know about TOUCH-A-TRUCK from a mom’s point of view.

All funding from TOUCH-A-TRUCK directly supports Family 2 Family Connection, a non-profit providing free family engagement classes to families in southern Nevada.
There are a handful of construction vehicles, first responder vehicles, vendors, a large sandbox, and more.
In 2024, Blue Bell was handing out free ice cream, the Shark Reef Aquarium was on-site with fun fossils and info, and there were some lawn activities for kids.
Pros and Cons of Attending Construction vs. Cancer
Pros
- Support a non-profit
- Lots of vehicles and vendors
Cons
- Be prepared for no shade. The event is on the lawn in the open space, so you’ll want to wear a hat or go early in the morning.
- Not many activities and lines can get VERY long as this event is much smaller than the fall construction event and you need to be prepared to wait in lines for vendors and vehicles
Tips For Your Visit
- Wear closed-toed shoes – you’re outside and therez
- Wear a hat / sunscreen – there’s no shade!
- Bring water and snacks. There are lots of food vendors and food options nearby, but they can be pricey. If you want to eat before or after, check out: True Food Kitchen or Makers & Finders
- Bring a stroller that rolls well on the grass or let your little run free. It is a bit packed, so a stroller can help keep them contained while waiting in long lines.

Things to Do Nearby
While you’re in the area, you might want to check out:
- Food: True Food Kitchen, Makers & Finders, or a spot at Red Rock Casino
- Check out the weekly Farmer’s Market right next to the lawn that runs during the same timeframe 9am-2pm.
