VIRGINIA CITY

Our Experience

We had such a great time.  My kids are still talking about it 3 weeks later.  My husband and I both loved the narration on the train.  We learned some really cool facts about the railway and region.

Spending 3.5 hours in Virginia City was the perfect amount of time for our family.  We had lunch, enjoyed ice cream, went to a few museums, and shopped!

Definitely plan on doing the museums if you are with kids. There was so much great history to enjoy.

Our Tips

The train does not have AC but the windows are down for fresh air.  Make sure you check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

We went during the heat wave so it was hot.  But the windows allowed a nice breeze inside.

We recommend packing water.  Water is available to purchase on the train for a $1 bottle. We also do not recommend a stroller. If you have a young child or baby, we recommend babywearing.  It is easier for the train and navigating Virginia City.

The seats are not assigned on the train, so if you have a large group plan to arrive earlier.

Comfortable walking shoes are a must! You are in Virginia City for 3.5 hours walking so you want to plan on that.

Enjoy The V&T Train Ride

Yes, you could drive to Virginia City but taking the train was truly an experience in itself! The V&T train ride felt like taking a step back in time entering the train and Virginia City.
