You’ve Been EGGed! Egg Your Neighbor Easter Tradition (Free Printable)

You’ve been EGGed! This fun Easter activity is such a fun way to celebrate the holiday and also treat a few neighbors! It is basically like a secret chain letter that gets you and your neighbors in the Easter spirit.

If you haven’t seen this trend come through your neighborhood yet, it might be time for you to be the first to introduce it. Here’s how it goes:

  1. You hide a number of eggs in your neighbor’s yard and place a small basket of goodies on your neighbors porch, ring the doorbell (or don’t and let it be a surprise) and disappear before they open it.
  2. They find and enjoy the goodies and carry on the chain to another neighbor! They have two nights to do so.
  3. Once you have been EGGed you are supposed to put a sign up on your front porch/window/door.

You’ve Been EGGed Signs

We’ve also created a free “You’ve Been EGGed” printable that you can use to start You’ve Been EGGed in your neighborhood.  Here’s what ours says:

  1. Hang the “We’ve Been EGGed” sign on your door to let your neighbors know you’ve already participated.
  2. You only have 48 hours, so don’t delay – create a goodie basket for TWO neighbors.
  3. Make copies of the instructions (or go to http://bit.ly/eggyourneighbor to download & print)
  4. Leave your eggs hidden in the lawn and an easter basket on your neighbors doorstep and hop, hop, hop away quickly!

If you’re late to the game, don’t worry – you can modify the Easter themed version for holidays throughout the year. Some other ideas we’ve seen done include You’ve Been BOO’d (Halloween),You’ve Been Gobbled (Thanksgiving), or You’ve Been Elfed (Christmas).

Don’t forget to get your kids involved from picking the items out, filling and leaving the basket.  Not only will they enjoy being sneaky like a ghost, this Halloween but it is also a great time to talk and teach about giving to others and being a good neighbor.
